Layer 2 — Nasty Voyeur 2 Archives  •  This jacket is the original from which the public placards in Layer 1 — Myths of the Founder were derived.

The master jacket for the entire case.
Everything else in this archive is filed inside it. A case file assumes you already know why you are reading it. This one assumes you already know why it exists. The assumption is doing a great deal of work.
DOC#X-ORIG-00 OMEGA-RECURSIVE

NASTY VOYEUR 2 — OFFICE OF SPACE SCIENCE
Case jacket. Internal. Cover sheet for all holdings pertaining to the subject. The leaf mounted below is the recovered original; it is not a transcription.

ITEM X-ORIG-00 — CASE JACKET COVER SHEET, 1 LEAF CLEARANCE: OMEGA-RECURSIVE
Recovered case jacket cover sheet on aged, hole-punched paper. Typed heading “DOC#X-ORIG-00 • Case Jacket — Subject Galaxy-1981.” Subject: GALAXY-1981 / Michigan Singularity / Subject Zero. Date Opened 06 AUG 1986 (signal intercept), corrected by hand to 12 JUN 1928. Two red rubber stamps read “CLEARANCE: OMEGA (1986) → OMEGA-RECURSIVE (2026)” and “OMEGA-RECURSIVE — NASTY VOYEUR 2 — OFFICE OF SPACE SCIENCE.” A ruled Chain of Custody table lists redacted names against Wayne County Clerk, Office of Space Science, Federal Records Transfer and Archives Division, dated between 1928 and 1987. Foot of the sheet bears a handwritten “J. Doe” signature, the date 12 JUN 1928, and a circular OMEGA-RECURSIVE seal.

The leaf is genuine carbon stock, correctly aged for its earliest entry. Three details were flagged on intake and have not been reconciled. The Date Opened is typed 06 AUG 1986 and corrected by hand to 12 JUN 1928 — the subject was already on file before the file was opened. The chain of custody records a Wayne County Clerk entry (12 JUN 1928) thirty-nine years before the Office of Space Science opened the jacket; resolving the order of events would require the department transferred in October 1994 to [REDACTED]. The signature at the foot reads J. Doe, dated to the corrected open date; the clerk of record reports no memory of signing it.

Subject was classified OMEGA in 1986 on the grounds that its signal referenced itself. In 2026 the classification was upgraded to OMEGA-RECURSIVE on the grounds that the signal had begun referencing us. There is no clearance level above OMEGA-RECURSIVE. The form has a field for one. The field is empty. We have been advised the field will fill itself.

Scope of Jacket

This jacket holds the working originals from which the public-facing Layer 1 placards were assembled. The placards describe the subject from the outside, in language prepared for visitors. The originals were not prepared for anyone. They were prepared because the division was required to file something, and the form required an entry, and the entry required a subject, and the subject had already supplied one.

The jacket precedes its own contents. The earliest document inside it (the 1928 correspondence license) is dated thirty-nine years before the jacket was opened. The division has elected not to resolve this. Resolving it would require a department that can determine which event caused which, and that department was among the holdings transferred in October 1994 to [REDACTED].
